There are a few wonderful things I miss from my days in Madison, WI. I miss biking to Madison’s free Henry Villa Zoo, walking around the captial square’s ridiculously large farmers market and magic coffee from Graze (used to be at Cafe Soleil). The later, magic coffee is an iced coffee strong enough to wake you from any fog. It is dark, well spiced and richly sweet. They call it magic, I call it crack. During the hot summer months I could swing by Graze during my stroll at the farmers market and be refreshingly jolted. Last month I was browsing online for something that would be similar to make and to my surprise I found an article about magic coffee with the recipe. It turns I am not the only one who craves this stuff. So here it is. I am sharing the magic with you. 😉
Cafe Soleil’s Magic Coffee
for a 4-cup pot (serves 4 with ice)
Brew a pot of your favorite dark roast coffee. Once it’s brewed, transfer to a pitcher and add 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 shot of espresso. Let cool to luke warm and then add cream. Chill overnight, or cool and ice it down. Serve over ice. Proportions should be adjusted to the user’s taste.
